Three years ago, I was in Tolmin and biked there for four days and explored local mountains by bike. This year I decided to go back with frends and ride again. Razor was, and still is one of my favorite rides. Our route starts in Tolmin (very popular destination with tourists interested in outdoor activities) city near Italy. We parked our car on very big parking spot with no entrance fee. From that parking spot starts our ride. First part of the route is on narrow paved road which leads to Tolminske Ravne pasture. From Tolminske Ravne starts ascent to Razor hut, at some parts ascent sections were too steep, so sometimes we had to get off our bikes, and give it a little push (after cca 1 km from Tolminske Ravne there is a spring well).

View on river Tolminka

After good rest in Razor hut, we continued the ride, and on our path spotted access barring sign for bikes. But we wasn’t sure that this sign is meant for our trail or for the trail that leads to peak. We were a little bit worried about penalties , but after few hundred meters the views on Tolminske Ravne from above, washed all bad thoughts about penalties. (I’m still not sure if our ride is forbidden for bikers or not).  From this point starts one of the best singletrack rides I rode. Trail slowly and gradually transforms from open sights to wooden trail, and how the kilometers pass, trail becomes more and more dangerous. At some sections there is steep slope, so if you are riding bike you should be very careful. On the left side is steep slope, and on the right side are dangerous stones precisely at the level of the pedals.

Further away, path leads to river Tolminka, which we had to cross over with gondola (very interesting experience). But to get to that crossing we had to go through bike path with very well made jumps, gaps and narrow turns.
