This summer we were staying in town Hvar so I found some local trails that seemed interesting for quick morning ride.  Above Hvar there is famous fortress “Fortica”, local people also call it “Španjola”. But for my ride I chose to ride on higher positioned Fort Napoleon. Since I brought e-mtb with me I decided to go uphill with some trail that seemed rideable. It showed later that it could be ridden with e-mtb. Uphill ride was also inspection of trail condition since I also planned to go downhill with the same trail, so I convinced myself that the trail is maintained.

After reaching Napoleon Fort, I enjoyed in the wiev on surrounding island (mostly Vis and Paklinski islands). After short rest I descended on old Napoleon trail which was very interesting. It has few interesting details, which are pretty, demanding. Trail is slow due too many switchbacks, but I like this so I enjoyed it pretty much. As I rode the trail I realised that it is maintained and some berms are  adapted for bike. This is thanks to local guides who bring tourists to this trail and also maintain trails on island Hvar (and many other islands).

After descending on the trails I decided to repeat it, but this time I went up on paved road. It is way faster, specially on electric bike. After second descent I again went up on the same paved road, but this time I descended on trail that I went up on the first time. Iknew what to expect on this trail, even though it is very different perspective when you ride trail in different directions. If you are with the normal bike I would suggest you to ride uphill only on paved road.
