Due to Korona lockdown between Croatia and Slovenia, I accumulated many plans for our MTB trips in Slovenia, so when borders opened we chose to ride on Dovška Rožca mountain and saddle Mlinca. It is very nice and short tour which starts in the exactly the same place as tour that Gojsi and I rode last year Golica. I alredy knew that we should expect wonderful trails and views because trails engraved on this part of Slovenian mountains cannot be disappointing.
It was Sunday so we didn’t have to pay parking space, I’ m not sure how much is fee (or is there any) on workdays. From parking we turned left on main road and then right for Dovje. From there we followed asphalt road that goes to Dovška Rožca, and soon becomes gravel road. From there it is easy to follow path, and on intersections just follow signs to Dovška mountain or Baba. Later, gravel road becomes steeper, but we managed through. Gravel road ends with sightseeing spot on peak Triglav, highest peak in Slovenia.
From the hut awaits us more than 8 km of singletrack. Beginning of singletrack is a little exposed (not enough to be out of comfort zone), then is technical uphill, after that comes very steep section that demands endo turns, and after that becomes fast and flow trail.
After reaching gravel road we scented some singletracks across electrical fence, so we crossed over and continued along the trail. It was good choice because we connected on great trail with very nice views on the landscape.
Note: There is plenty of water on this path. We saw one well on the ascent, and three on descent. Also, you can combine this route with Golica – Hrušica peak.
