This route starts from a place called Otrić, near train station which doesn’t look like train station. Is is a actually a container. We parked our car on parking lot of train station, there is enough space. In the foothill of Poštak was exchange of mail between Austro-Hungaria and Turkey, so thats the origin of mountains name. Few centuries ago, this was mybe alive place, but now, nobody lives here anymore. All the houses are overgrown by vegetation, and beneath Poštak there is only one container with a worker and a dog (tornjak) that makes him company. Dog was having a higlight of the month when he saw two cyclists, but he didn’t show signs of agressivness. He was barking on us, It wasn’t dangerous but it was a little bit intimidating, especially if you are alone. Path that leads to a peak is pretty straightforward. It is one way up, and on the same trail down. It starts on East side beside container and goes through  the tunnel under rails and foollows unpaved road that soon becomes singletrack. First few hundred meters you can pedal, but as you reach the hiking trail you need to push your bike to the top with few pedable exceptions.

Last couple of weeks we spent most of our exploring mtb rides near Samobor. I’ve seen many interesting trails in these hills above Samobor. This weekend Andrej and I decided to visit Oštrc, Okić and Pleševica and connect them with as much as possible trails staying away from paved road. We parked in Samobor, and from there went for Rude, and followed unpaved road for mountain hut Ivica Sudnik . From there we continued with steep technical trail to Oštrc. After little refreshing in the hut beneath Oštrc we continued to Braslovlje with steep spiral trail which looks like little canal. It is very fun to ride. After this first descent we continued with paved road to Žumberak. After reaching house Poljica ( there you can eat or drink) we continued on paved road and after 2 km we turned left for unpaved road which later becomes very very steep. On the junction to peak Plešivica we turned left and from there pushed our bikes for second descent that ends again at house Poljica. Then again we continued with the same paved road and turned on unpaved road after 2 km, but this time on the junction we went right.

I remember first time when I visited east part of Medvednica. It was winter, and snow covered everything in Zagreb. We decided to visit Gorščica and it was one of the best and most genuine experiences on Medvednica mountain. At the hut Gorčica we ended with knives in our hands peeling potatoes  with the host who then made us pancakes and he didn’t  want to take any money from us. That was the first time on Medvednica mountain that I felt like I’m in someone’s house and not in a restourant.
Now, concession ended for hosts, but they still give service in smaller hut nearby old shelter. They sell drinks, strudels and best pancakes (for only 5 kunas, which is only 0,65 euros).
