Last couple of weeks we spent most of our exploring mtb rides near Samobor. I’ve seen many interesting trails in these hills above Samobor. This weekend Andrej and I decided to visit Oštrc, Okić and Pleševica and connect them with as much as possible trails staying away from paved road. We parked in Samobor, and from there went for Rude, and followed unpaved road for mountain hut Ivica Sudnik . From there we continued with steep technical trail to Oštrc. After little refreshing in the hut beneath Oštrc we continued to Braslovlje with steep spiral trail which looks like little canal. It is very fun to ride. After this first descent we continued with paved road to Žumberak. After reaching house Poljica ( there you can eat or drink) we continued on paved road and after 2 km we turned left for unpaved road which later becomes very very steep. On the junction to peak Plešivica we turned left and from there pushed our bikes for second descent that ends again at house Poljica. Then again we continued with the same paved road and turned on unpaved road after 2 km, but this time on the junction we went right.

MTB Samoborsko gorje: Japetić – Oštrc – Old town Lipovec

This time we decided to visit Japetić, Oštrc and old town Lipovec. For ascent on Japetić we choose probably easiest way by paved road, and then descended on the side were peregliders  go into the air. This is first of our three descents, and it ends near “Šoićeva kuća” (Šoić House). From there we went to Oštrc, and for ascent we used unpaved road which later becomes technical singletrack, we managed to pedal all the way beneath “Ptičji vrh” (“Bird peak”) and from there descended with Hofman put (Hofman trail), and then after  1 km we connected to the same trail that we used for ascent and went for Željezničar hut.

Few weeks before, we were riding on Krk, and then I sad that this was the best route you can find on island Krk, now after last ride my recent opinion need serious revision. This ride is better than any route we rode here in term of technical descents, panoramic views and endless singletracks.  We avoided ascent on asphalt road because I came a little bit later from Zagreb and I was visiting friends with my girlfriend for over a weekend, so I wanted to save up some time. Matko left his car in Baška, and I drove us and our bikes on Treskavac and left my car on parking lot. From there we continued on trail that leads to Obzova, Zminj, Veliki Hlam, Ljubimer and Bag. This time I wont describe path because it is similar to previous rides on Krk, you can look there for instructions.

The main difference from last ride from Bratinac is that this time on crossing for Bratinac and Ljubimer we went right following path that goes along old stone wall. We followd path on the left side of wall and even though it is technical demanding you can pedal almost all the way, depending on your physical condition and technical abilities.
