Osoršćica is hill on Lošinj island with its highest peak Televrin, 588 meters high. Ivan and I wanted to go in Bosnia for the weekend and had already planned everything , but due to Korona virus lockdown, we changed our plans and chose to explore Cres and Lošinj for three days. Ivan found out for the trail that goes from the peak st. Nicholas (st. Nikola, st. Mikul on local dialect) to Nerezine. Our start was from town Osor, from campsite “Preko mosta”. From there we just followed asphalt road which soon transformed into wide gravel road that leads to peak st. Nicholas. Just few hundred meters before peak, gravel road connects to singletrack trail. Last 100 meters hike&bike is needed due to steep ascent.

During ascent there are nice views on island Cres and Adriatic sea. At 6th km, there is a hut st. Gaudent where you can refresh and enjoy a little bit.

From the hut we continued forward to st. Nicholas. Trail to Nerezine is hard and rocky technical descent with demanding sections, but who has experience with those kind od trails will manage somehow to ride everything. Uphill parts are not rideable, but there is maybe 100 meters in total of those.

At the very end of the trail, Ivan had bad crash. In the most flowiest and easiest part of the trail, we gained some speed, and unlickily Ivan pedalstroked a stone, lost his balance, and had OTB (over the bars). Despite of everything, he didn’t broke anything.  The day after I went to ride alone on Balvanida trail and he had recovery day and the next day we rode together an easy trail near Osor. We changed our plans and left one hard route for another time, because it wasn’t smart to ride this peak in his condition.

If you think that trail from st. Nicholas – Nerezine is too difficult, you can go back the same way with gravel road. View and panorama are very nice, and it is worth the trip.

Hi, nice post! Which other hard route (peak) did you plan on doing over there? I have ridden Televrin, it eas very nice, so am interested in other options in the area, if there are any? Thank you.

Hi Miha, we planned to visit highest peak of Cres, Gorice, but due to fall, we reconsidered (I can’t say much about this route because I’ve never been there). Day after I went on Balvanida trail, very nice trail, which has more interesting technical ascents than descents, and the last day we explored some trails near Osor. Those trails were interesting, but not like this trail from st. Mikul. In the next few weeks I will write posts about those rides 😉
